The Dressing Down
So it has been a while since our last "Dressing Down" and I feel like there has been a world of change going on here at the studios of World Football Daily. Rafa here, Producer of the show, and I am going to try and get you up to date with all we got going on.
For one, the World Cup has come and gone with Steven jumping on the Spain band wagon. Well, truth be told, he did pip them to win it before the tournament started, but does it give him the right to don the FC Barcelona t-shirt on the day of the final? I guess that is subjective. I thought I would mention a couple things, just to "toot" our own horn a little. World Football Daily went something like twenty-four straight days of broadcasting live shows (yes, including weekends). I mean, that is on the same level as ESPN, who had rights to the games, as well as an army of people working on their coverage. We hardly ever slowed the entire World Cup either, bringing an average of three guests a show, many of which were live from South Africa. In total, World Football Daily brought it's subscribers over 64 hours of podcasts alone, not including premium video content.
We took a lot of pride in the shows we did over June and July and the level of supporter participation was absolutely fantastic. As the Producer, I want to thank all you. The World Cup was fun, but this past silly season was just as much fun. The unwind from tense competition for an entire month, to a month filled with transfer rumors, moves and club friendlies and tours, we enjoyed covering it all.
With so many clubs from around the world on various tours in the summer, WFD made sure to capitalize on several of them. So even in a silly season with lots of talk and little movement, we still brought your top guests from around the world like: Owen Coyle, Hermann Hreidersson, Osvaldo Ardiles, and Shay Given. These were just on air interviews, not including the live on location coverage we had with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.
Now we are coming out of the first week of the new English Premier League season. Although Steven may not admit it, we are extremely excited to see the season start. We are always excited to bring you the top journalists and correspondents from around the world, but we have been working extra close with ESPN and Goal.com in order to bring you an even more complete look on the world of football. We are definitely trying to keep focus on our domestic league with constant coverage of Major League Soccer. So whether you are a die-hard EPL supporter, or an upstart MLS fan, you can listen to the show and get all the footy you need.
Lastly, I want to invite all our local California supporters to take a trip down to Hollywood one of these weekends to join Steven, Kenny, myself and the rest of the World Football Daily family to watch a game or two our new home of Capitol City Sports Bar in Grill. This place is insane! For one, location; Capitol City Sports Bar is in the heart of Hollywood. Cap City has tons of hi-def televisions that line the walls so no matter where you look, you never miss a second of the game. No joke. They even have tele's in the stalls of the urinals for us guys. The place also has one wicked selection of beers on tap, in the bottle, full bar, and a large selection of wine in case you bring the woman along. The staff is incredibly friendly and fantastic to look at, and their food is incredibly tasty without gouging the wallet. Oh... and don't forget the gigantic movie theater size screen smack dab in the middle of the place. Yes, Capitol City Sports Bar is epic.
Like I said, World Football Daily has got a lot going on and to be honest, this is barely the cliff notes of what's happening. The best way for you to keep up is by listening and staying current with Steven and Kenny everyday. Stay tuned in to WFD, not just the podcast, but check out the video podcast, the video highlights, our free blog called the "Kick About", and so much more. We bring the world of football to you...
