Spurs facing huge task to get back into Champions League

Harry Redknapp has called for his Spurs side to bounce back from their Champions League disappointment by confirming their place in the Premier League top four come the end of the season.

The veteran manager has seen the North London side surprise many people with their performances in the Champions League this season, but defeat to Real Madrid has ended their participation.

Spurs now face a fight in the remaining Premier League games to get into the top four and ensure they qualify for the tournament for next season. Anyone looking to bet on Premier League weekend games will know that a win is crucial.

Currently Redknapp's side are sitting fifth in the table, but have a game in hand with Manchester City who are three points ahead of them, however Spurs' inferior goal difference makes it more of a challenge to get into the Premier League top four.

Spurs face North London rivals Arsenal in their next game, together with matches against Chelsea and City before the end of the season, but Redknapp reckons his side still have a "great chance" of achieving Champions League qualification, even if the Premier League tips suggest otherwise

He said: "It's very difficult to retain that top-four spot, but that's something we've got to aim to do at Tottenham.

"We've got to be up there every year. We should be. If we can make the top four again, it would be a great achievement."

Tottenham captain Michael Dawson has also issued a rallying call for his team-mates to step up over the coming weeks, declaring qualifying only for the Europa League would be a disappointing finish.

He claims Spurs are "hungry for more" after tasting the Champions League, and the players will need to be at their best in every remaining game if they want to get back into that Premier League top four.
