On May 25^th Wembley will host its seventh Champions League final, a record for any host venue of this prestigious fixture, and a great honor for the FA during their 150^th anniversary year.

 

The two names battling it out on that Saturday night are unknown for now – although many of us expect at least one Spanish side’s name to be on one of the dressing room doors at Wembley that evening – but the ball they will use to etch their name into history has been unveiled today.

 

The adidas Finale Wembley was revealed to World Football Daily today and we have the images to prove it.

 

As a venue, Wembley stadium is as iconic as they come, and has seen some of the worlds greatest clubs lift club football’s ultimate trophy inside its great walls. The great AC Milan team of ’63, Manchester United in ’78, Ajax in ’71, Liverpool in ’78 side and Barcelona’s all-conquering teams in ’92 and 2011 have all lifted the European Cup at the home of football, and adidas’ new ball honours that tradition with it’s bold design and colour scheme, and the dates of 1963 & 2013 placed inside the two middle stars on the front of the ball.

 

The designers say, “The aesthetic of the ball reflects these events, incorporating the years in which the finals took place into the well-known star panel design - an iconic feature of adidas’ official match balls for the competition. The technical graphics and the expressive colour scheme come together to reflect the grandeur of the occasion where this year’s winners will be crowned in front of the near 90,000-strong crowd.”

 

We say it looks fantastic.

The adidas Finale Wembley will be used on field during UEFA Champions League matches from February 12th and is available for purchase in adidas retail stores and associated stockists as of 1^st February.
