Puma levels the playing field
Puma levels the playing field

When it comes to shopping and finding a perfect pair of cleats for one to play football in, it’s difficult to see past the heavy advertisements from Nike and Adidas.  Two strong companies, much like la liga today, have plagued the current market out there for players when it comes to selecting a boot. It has been Puma month here at world football daily, and we had the opportunity to out both the Puma Kings and Powercats.

Some footballers have pet peeves, our first touch must be spot on, and our strike must have a clean follow through or simply is it comfortable to run in. When trying on the Puma Kings at first the immediate observation is that these boots were very comfortable. Playing in these boots were also something else, the first touch on these shoes are sublime and finding the sweet spot to strike the ball is very clean, it just feels natural. The only side note to these shoes are the following, if you have the genetics that gifted you a wide foot, particularly near the arch. The shoe was evidently designed for those with a narrow foot, but still a quality boot to have in one's arsenal.

Contrast to the Kings specifics to accommodate the needs of players with narrow feet, the Powercats remedies the situation immediately. Puma Powercats from earlier years have boasted an attribute to be a shoe of strength. Constructing a boot to be strong is tough; a strong shoe usually has an immediate insinuation of being heavy. The latest Powercats however are just slightly heavier than its counterpart in the Kings. The first touch with these boots is impeccable at times it feels that the ball just sticks to one's feet. The Powercats also not only are extremely comfortable but the K-leather the boots are designed with make the shoe very adaptable to one's feet. Another note for players who have a fairly wide foot, the powercats are your boot, the leather and sole of the shoe make it easily accommodating to those with wide feet.

When searching for that specific boot, we all look for certain qualities to the shoe. But unlike the saying "if the shoe fits" when it comes to finding a new pair of boots, it’s not all about the boot just fitting. Every player has a special set of feet whether they are wide or narrow, big or small. Each player not only has special feet but they also have certain qualities each footballer looks for to better enhance their game. Puma not only offers a third party option to what appears to be a two company saturated market but they compete with the quality of boot.
