Having endured what was widely regarded as a relatively poor start to the season for a Manchester United team, the Red Devils' victory over arch-rivals Liverpool at the weekend may turn out to be the kick start that the title-chasing side needed in order to provide them with the level of self-belief necessary for overcoming the
Betfair Football odds and winning the Premier League this season.
Although they are clearly a top class side, United had already thrown away secure leads this season, attracting the unwanted wrath of their manager in the process. By showing that they themselves are capable of recovering from setbacks to steal all three points, the United players have proved to their demanding manager and their fans that they believe in their own ability.
This could not apply more to any member of the United squad than Dimitar Berbatov, a man who has failed to live up to his hefty price tag - until his fantastic performance and headline-grabbing hat-trick against Liverpool. If he has finally found his confidence, it is likely that he will also soon start to find sustained top form in a manner that Manchester United fans previously have not had the chance to enjoy.
With his previous appearances on the pitch often suggesting that he is either lazy or simply not interested in the game, he has been a target of hostility from the United fans and a subject of ridicule from away supporters at Old Trafford, especially when compared with Wayne Rooney, who is often the very epitome of an excellent work rate. However, should Berbatov finally show that he is a man who can score goals and contribute to the team effort overall, he is likely to begin to win over some of the fans who have been on his back until now.
If Berbatov can pull this off successfully, United will be a side which is able to move forward together to bigger and better things and, more than likely, serious chances at glory.
Meanwhile, the
Wigan betting suggests they could still be relegated later this season.
The side have struggled so far and could be in for a tough time.
