With Arsenal crashing out of the Champions League at the hands of a far superior Barcelona side this week, it's surely about time for the Gunners to stop doing all their talking off the pitch, and start doing it where it matters: on the pitch.
Arsenal may have been rightly outraged by the intervention of match referee Massimo Busacca, who for some reason decided it was the right thing to do to send off star striker Robin van Persie after the frontman hit a strike towards goal after being flagged offside, but they were deservedly defeated by a Lionel Messi-inspired Barca side that now must surely be considered strong favourites to lift the Champions League trophy aloft come May and anyone looking to bet football money should remember this.
With Bacary Sagna attempting to use the latest high-profile defeat for Arsenal within the space of just a couple of weeks to talk up the club's chances of some sort of success in the near future, perhaps the Gunners need to realise that, as much as they can talk the talk, they won't be able to walk the walk in the same style as the Spanish champions until they inject a level of confidence into their play on the pitch that is sorely lacking right now. Some people make Arsenal betting tips to claim the Premier League, but given the way they have capitulated in big games, huge doubts remain.
Sagna may be right that "everyone [at the club] is still confident" of winning, but no amount of training or expounding upon the philosophy of attacking football will alter the fact that the Gunners have a severe lack of a winning mentality. With Bendtner's miss in the closing minutes of last night's game yet another example of a lack of composure and quality at crucial moments, Arsene Wenger needs to ensure that his players start to prove their words of lofty ambition on the pitch, turning them into much needed silverware in the process.
