These are fascinating times in Chicago, the Bulls had a fair run in the NBA playoffs, the sudden collapse of Detroit financially, and now the Fire have bolstered their attack with the signing of Juan Luis Anangono. With Mike Magee's homecoming the fire still looked to invest in a young forward attacking player, which can work and adapt to multiple playing styles of the game. The signature of the 24-year-old Ecuadorian is an investment of all spheres of the beautiful game, from play on the pitch, possible shirt sales and improvement of attendance at Toyota Park. The young man from the Equator does carry a rather filling resume from his early career in the Ecuadorian League, Argentine Primera A and the National team.
Juan Luis Anangono made his professional debut in Guayaquil, Ecuador, for Sporting Club de Barcelona at age 18, in an unfortunate 1-0 defeat to Universidad Catolica. He would finish his debut season with just 10 games and not a single goal. Juan Luis finally found the back of the net in February 2010 in a 1-0 win against Olmedo, he would finish that season with 8 goals in 28 games. After a rather unpromising start for Barcelona Sporting, Juan was sent to play for El Nacional in Ecuador. While at El Nacional, Juan Luis endured a more fruitful time at El Equipo Militar de Quito; during the 2011 campaign Anangono bagged 22 goals in 45 matches for El Nacional. During his run in Ecuador Juan Luis was able to score 43 goals in 138 appearances for both El Nacional and Barcelona Sporting. In which attracted the eye of Italian side Chievo Verona. After the deal to Chievo Verona fell through, Anangono was loaned to Argentine Primera giants Argentinos Juniors.
With the deal to Chievo stalling out of the transfer window time frame, and El Nacional loaning Anangono out Argentinos Juniors in Argentina. Anangono found himself to be at the center of what would be en exceptionally thrilling season for Argentinos. In the match against Boca Juniors, which ended as a draw at 1-1, with his golden opportunity to win the match went wide; to winning the local derby match against All Boys in the 88th minute. Even being crucial in a lost, like in the match against Atletico Rafaela with him assisting two goals and scoring a third in a 5-3 defeat. One viewpoint to this acquisition by the Chicago Fire is that will be able to adapt to life in the MLS and hopefully thrive with the partnership with either Mike Magee or Chris Rolfe. The extra option should aid coach Frank Klopas in his selection of forwards when it comes to choosing the inform forward or resting one.
In all this signing by the Fire, in fact shows that Major League Soccer is in fact heading in the right direction. With teams investing their time and money on young players with technical skill and a strong physical display. Only points to the League's improvement and with the fair influx of these young and gifted players will only help provide temperate competition to the American players, playing with and against these foreign players. All facts aside, the introduction of Anangono to the MLS and the Chicago Fire will only benefit the Fire in squad slection and rotation; and the league with new and strong competition.
