Fernando Torres is a man who may have left Liverpool fans seething with his big-money move to Premier League rivals Chelsea, but they may yet find their pain eased by a man who, although not the most fashionable name in world football, could find life on Merseyside a perfect fit.

Andy Carroll is not a man who shies away from big challenges and tough situations. Although attracting criticism at times for his actions off the field of play his time at Newcastle was nothing but a success, and now could be the time for the English striker to make a move that could turn out to be the turning point in a career that progresses from promising to successful whilst wearing the red of Liverpool. The Liverpool betting tips now suggest the side could make Europe, and Carroll can play a big part in their push once he's fit.

Certainly Kenny Dalglish believes this will become the reality at Anfield, even if the vultures in the English press remain cynical about the transfer. With the Liverpool boss believing that the striker has arrived at the perfect location in which to fulfil his "fantastic potential", and the striker no doubt buzzing with the confidence of being able to boast such a hefty price tag following his move from Newcastle, the signs look good for a Liverpool revival led by perhaps the most unlikely of characters. The football betting odds hint he could be top English scorer this season, and that would be no mean feat for a player who has missed a significant number of games.

At 22 years of age, some Liverpool fans believe that such a big move has been made by the youngster two or three years too early than would ideally be preferable in modern day football, but with Liverpool no longer boasting world class talent in every position on the pitch, Carroll is unlikely to get lost in the ranks of the historic club as he may have done even just two or three years ago.

If Carroll's transition proves to be a smooth one, it could be great news not just for Liverpool fans, but for England fans as well.
