We had a fantastic day today. A big thanks goes out the US Soccer for allowing us to speak with
Marucs Hahnemann ahead of their match against Panama tomorrow.
Confidence is high in the US Camp in Houston and the Americans are really looking forward to make up for the loss Panama handed them earlier in the tournament. The loss to Panama in the group stages was the only loss the US has experiences at that stage of the Gold Cup.
Either way, look for a different American team compared to the one who showed up last time to face Panama.
It's not unknown that Marcus is currently without a club. We also know the American keeper has plenty of quality play left in both hands and feet and Kenny asked the question "what's next for Marcus" and the keeper answered honestly.
"Keller is retiring and I'd love to be back in Seattle" said Hahnemann.
Funny you mention that Mark because we just so happened to be interviewing the head coach for the Seattle Sounders about an hour after we get off the phone with you!So when we heard this from Marcus, of course we had thought to put it to Coach Sigi Schmid. Guest-host Robert was going to interview the head coach of the Sounders as Premium Content for our subscribers.
Listen to the Sigi Schmid interview here."For us (Seattle Sounders FC) it's a great fit," Sigi told us in the interview. "We'd love to have him."
Of course thing are a bit more complicated than that and you get the entire explanation in the interview, but if Sigi and Marcus had it their way, Hahnemann would be a Sounder again next year.
