Blue is the colour, of course, as some of Chelsea’s biggest stars model the London club’s new home kit for the coming 2013-14 season.
With their ‘reigning European Champions’ title long gone from above their head, Chelsea will no longer be sporting their golden Adidas stripes and badge for their 2013-14 campaign, instead reverting back to the ‘traditional’ club crest colours that were branded onto the shirt back in 2006, and the white trim last seen 12 months ago on their trail to European glory.
The shirt is far smarter than the slightly garish blue and gold attire from this season - a sign, maybe, that less is more after the spiral down European football’s proverbial ladder that the Stamford Bridge faithful have had to watch – with a neat white stripe on the sleeve cuffs and around the v-neck of the shirt being the only discernible patches of colour aside from the kit sponsors patented three-stripe design.
Fans may also be pleased to see the man stood next to Gary Cahill in the centre of the picture is, of course, Fernando Torres who even after a fairly poor season (poor by £50 million transfer fee status) has managed to get himself in as one of the poster boys for the new kit. A sign that Fernando is staying put at Cheslea?
We’ll find out in the summer.
