Norwich City will have a slightly different look about them this weekend as they step at Carrow Road to face Everton this Saturday.
The club has teamed up with their shirt sponsors Aviva and the players will be donning a shirt bearing the logo of their sponsor’s partner charity Railway Children.
It will be the second consecutive year that Norwich City have worn Railway Children’s logo on their shirts, with last year’s game generating over £10,000 for the cause as well as delivering priceless recognition of the charity’s critical work.
Railway Children provide support for under-16s who run away from home or who are at risk of doing so. In the UK it’s estimated that 18 children run away form home every 90 minutes, a figure that Norwich boss Chis Houghton shudders at the thought of.
“To think that 18 children are estimated to run away from home during Saturday's game says a great deal,” said the Canaries manager.
“We hope to raise as much awareness as possible from the activity on the day to help support children who may run away from home.
“As a father myself, I can’t even begin to imagine what it would be like to have your own child run away from home.”
Club Director – and all time England pop culture legend – Stephen Fry will also be showing his support for the charity via twitter to help raise money for Railway Children’s cause. For every tweet or retweet posted on Twitter on match day including the hashtag #1every5, Aviva will donate £1 to Railway Children.
Even the Carrow Road will be dressed in the charities colours for Saturday afternoon and, to top it all off, fans will be given the opportunity to win one of the 18 limited edition shirts worn and signed by the players if they head to the charities website after the game.
