Aldridge impressed by Suarez

It seems fair to say that those purchasing a Luis Suarez Liverpool Kit since his arrival at Anfield will be extremely happy with the way their new hero has performed so far.

The Uruguay international has been fantastic for Kenny Dalglish in the last few weeks, linking up superbly with his new team-mates to be heavily involved in everything Liverpool are doing well.

Most recently he has formed an impressive looking partnership with fellow new-signing Andy Carroll. The pair were both excellent against Manchester City on Monday evening and helped the Reds secure an impressive 3-0 win.

This has led to much praise for Suarez from Liverpool legend John Aldridge. The former striker has been delighted with the way the new No.7 has settled into life on Merseyside.

Referring to the performance on Monday evening, he said: “People will rightly point out how poor Manchester City were, but the truth is that Liverpool made them look poor with their attitude and their desire.”

“Nobody encapsulated that mentality better than the strike force of Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez. When you have two lads up front who are fighters, and will do anything for the team, rather than just themselves, it does so much to help the team, and those two were absolutely superb."

Liverpool fans are certainly excited about what the future holds with these two leading the line and at the moment it looks like fantastic business for Dalglish to replace Fernando Torres with this new strike force.

Looking at Suarez’s impact specifically, it is all the more impressive considering he speaks very little English at the moment. He has had to communicate using the language of football, with his undoubted creativity, flair and work-rate on show.

His strike partner Carroll is certainly pleased to be working alongside the former Ajax striker, lavishing the praise on him following the pair’s first start together at Anfield on Monday.

The £35 million man said: “Luis is a great player and I'm really looking forward to building a successful partnership with him. You can see what he's all about and the range of skills that he has. I feel that we've been working really well together in training and the partnership's going from strength to strength.”

The short-term target for Liverpool with their new striker force will be to qualify for the Europa League next season, something they will believe they are more than capable of doing after the excellent display over Manchester City.
