Any other season and three home defeats at this stage of the campaign would have already killed any hopes of winning the title, not this year though. Arsenal's third home loss of the season came at the weekend, after they surrendered a two goal lead to Spurs.

In their previous two home losses, to Newcastle and West Brom, Arsenal failed to perform anywhere near their usual high standards. The same couldn't be said about this display against Spurs. In attack, Arsenal were typically dangerous, taking the lead through Samir Nasri before Marouane Chamakh doubled it before the half hour mark.

The defensive display that followed in the second half was their downfall, although it's not something that Wenger's teams make a habit of doing. As soon as Gareth Bale grabbed Spurs' first goal Arsenal looked fragile at the back and paid for some indecisive defending, conceding a penalty before Younes Kaboul nicked the late winner five minutes from time. There won't have been too many Premier League bets placed on Spurs winning once they went 2-0 down, but it was a superb comeback.

With the patchy form of the other title hunters this season, Arsene Wenger's side are still only two points off table toppers Chelsea and very much in the race. Had they clung on to their lead, Arsenal would have gone level on points with Chelsea at the top of the league and Wenger will still fancy his chances of keeping pace with their city rivals and the football odds show they are still in with a chance.

When the dust settles on the disappointing loss, Wenger can still be relatively happy looking at the table. However, Arsenal won't be able to slip up again anytime soon if they are going to mount a genuine challenge this season. They will be looking to bounce back next weekend when they travel to Villa Park, before hosting Wigan then Fulham in three games Arsenal will be looking to win.

As everyone knows, there is no easy game in the Premier League but Arsenal's next real test will come on the 13th of December when they head to Old Trafford. That match will be a real test as to whether this Arsenal team can pick up their first piece of silverware for five years.
