Tevez still determined to leave
Tevez still determined to leave

Despite his move to Corinthians falling through, Carlos Tevez has made it clear that he is still determined to leave Manchester City.

The player’s representative has said that he is “not overly worried” about the Brazilian club’s withdrawal from the £40m deal for the striker and believes there are plenty of other options.

Kia Joorabchian said: “This is Carlos Tevez we are talking about, one of the best players in the world. We are not overly worried.”

“He wants to leave but is still a City player at the moment and we will of course respect that. We've just got to wait and see who comes in next for him.”

Following the move to Corinthians falling through, it was suggested that Tevez could remain a City player as time was running out before the start of the season.

However, Joorabchian is clearly confident that there will be some interested clubs. This will no doubt be the case as Tevez is a world-class player, but there is a difference between clubs being interested and clubs agreeing a deal with Manchester City.

The Premier League club have made it clear to football betting pundits that they do not need to sell their captain and if they do not receive a sufficient offer, the deal won’t go through. The player wants to leave and the club are willing to sell at the right price, but it isn’t always that simple.

How many clubs realistically have £40m to spend on a player at this stage of the summer? Normally the only club we mention in terms of having this spending power are....Manchester City.

Basically, this could get ugly. With Copa America over, Tevez needs to return to Manchester for pre-season training and having made it clear that he wants to leave, this could create an unwelcome atmosphere. Will we get him refusing to return? It seems like a possibility.

Quite simply, it remains unclear where Tevez will be playing next season. Whether a loan move away from Manchester City is an option on a short-term basis, much like when Robinho moved away from the club, who knows.

This has been one of the biggest talking points of the summer and to be honest, it will probably continue to be over the next few weeks. Joy!
