First he modeled the new F50s. Then he had his own special Ballon d'Or boot made. Now adidas have completed Lionel Messi’s journey to stardom with his own signature style of boot.
It's no wonder a player who has inspired so many in and around the beautiful game has managed to find himself with his own signature brand in the adidas ranks, and it's even less surprising that the man who plays the game with such grace and passion now has a personalised shoe that mimics its muse in both build and style.
The adizero F50 Messi boot has been made with the mini maestro in mind, with a colour scheme and a design that reflects Leo personally.
The powerful red, Lionel’s favorite colour, reflects the danger the Argentine forward poses to on coming defender - almost like a warning alarm flashing on Leo’s feet telling would be tacklers that he’s coming through – and represents the four time FIFA World Player of the Year’s burning desire for the game.
The sleek white frame of the boot – a boot designed to be as light as possible – shows off the players pace and the delicate touch he possesses. On the sole of the boot there is a single red stud in the centre of the sole surrounded by its white counterparts, which represents Messi with his teammates and shows how he is only as strong as the rest of his team around him.
Messi has been integral to the development of the boot and, just as he is in every move on the pitch, has been at the heart the design and testing stages for the boot. This shoe is as much of Messi as it can be.
The greatest player in the world joins a very short list of players who have had their own custom range of shoes from adidas, including Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls and David Beckham.
The best player in the world now his own version of the fastest boots in the world and he will be debuting the F50 Messi this spring.
www.adidas.com/messi-collection will be selling the shoe from February 21st while other retailers will have it on sale from March 1st.
We here at World Football Daily were big fans of the F50s when we tested them earlier in the year. While the specs for both boots are similar, the F50 Messi looks fantastic, especially with his own signature logo on the tongue. They may look more at home in the San Siro, but these could be the best looking boots since the pink and silver predators were released, and the most iconic signature shoe football has seen since the Nike R9s that Ronaldo dazzled the world with.
The boot reflects the player and it doesn’t involve any polka dots – unlike that Ballon d’Or suit – and we’re going to be doing our best to get a hands on look at the boot in the coming weeks. For now, just enjoy these images.
