We were teased some yesterday here at World Football Daily. Puma Football sent us a video that starred Atletico Madrid forward Radamel Falcao kicking a football dipped in what looked like pink paint.
Well, today we got the full video which has Falcao blasting shots against a blank white canvas with balls dipped in pastel colored paints. The end of the video shows what looks like a blotchy red and pink outline of their evo-boot.
I will say that the video does reflect a little influence from the CFC Blue Kit Campaign with several players dipped in blue paint, but really who's to say who originated the whole paint idea.
This weekend on the pitch, Puma stars Sergio Aguero and Radamel Falcao will be rocking the new evoSPEED 1.2 Camo boot in their respective matches. Basically, they will be flashing a preview of the boot to be released this May 15th, so try to catch a Manchester City match or a Atletico Madrid game if you want to see the new boots in action.
In my personal opinion, I think it's a very interesting take on the definition of the word "Camo". I'm not sure where they thought Pink and Red dots of various sizes spread across a boot would blend you in any where on the pitch. If anything, I'm thinking you stand out more! But, trying to reach some with my reasoning, perhaps their thought was that when you're running at pace, perhaps the colors blur to fade into the surrounding atmosphere. I don't know.
Regardless, I think these boots are still built for speed. The "Camo" print won't slow you down any. Perhaps it distracts your opponent to make them a step or two slower? Again, I could be stretching it there, but no one is getting hurt. Credit to player who confidently steps onto the pitch and puts one or two past you in these. Just think of the mind games that plays on a defender who got beat by these boots.
