Club Santos vs Atlas Liga MX Preview

Santos Laguna will be looking to extend their unbeaten run from eight games to nine this Friday against Atlas. Santos will be hosting Atlas at the Estadio Nuevo Corona in Torreon Mexico Friday the 20th of February. Currently both sides sit equal on points with 10 points, although Atlas are in 6th and Santos 4th. The difference between Santos and Atlas is their goal differential. Atlas have an equal number of goals scored and goals allowed to their difference, eight. Santos have outscored their opponents in Liga MX table by three goals; nine goals scored to six goals allowed.

Los Verdiblancos (the Green-and-whites) will be coming into this match against Atlas on a "high" note after defeating Atletico San Luis 3-0 at the Estadio Nuevo Corona. The last occasion that Santos dropped points occurred recently in Toluca. Diego Gonzalez was able to salvage a draw for Santos in the dying stages of the match. The last time Santos were defeated came in the beginning of the season when they were visiting Mexico City and were defeated 1-0 by Cruz Azul.

Atlas on the other hand has been enduring a rough run of form since their last victory back on the 17th of January against Morelia, 2-1. Atlas recently was defeated in their Copa Libertadores match against Colombian side Santa Fe, 0-1. The lost to the Colombians at the Estadio Jalisco in Mexico added to the woes of Atlas and their supporters during this month of February. Los Zorros really need something out of this tie against Santos especially since they will be traveling to Southeastern Brazil in their other Copa Libertadores match against Atletico Mineiro.

Los Laguneros (The Harriers) should in fact see three points easily in this match against Atlas. The last 11 occasions these two sides have met, Santos have won seven, tied three and were defeated by Los Zorros on one occasion. Here is a little piece of frivolous information, the last time Atlas defeated Santos was almost a year from Friday at the Estadio Nuevo Corona, 3-2.
